Affiliate links

Some links in our video descriptions are affiliate links. If you use one and sign up for the service, this channel is paid a commission by that company. The price you pay is the same either way.

Where a link is an affiliate link, the video description says so in its first line, before the fold, as required by the FTC's endorsement guides. We do not rely on a viewer expanding the description to find out.

Three rules we hold ourselves to:

We do not accept payment to feature a company in the story itself, and no episode has been sponsored.

Synthetic media

Narration is produced with a synthetic voice. Background imagery is generated. Every upload is disclosed to YouTube as altered or synthetic content, which puts a label on the player.

Documents shown on screen — statements, invoices, filings, timelines — are reconstructions built from templates for the episode. They are not photographs of anyone's real paperwork.

Fiction and fact

The stories are invented. Names, characters, employers, addresses and events are fictional, and any resemblance to real people or companies is coincidental. No episode claims to be a true story, and we do not use "based on real events" or similar framing.

What is not invented is the procedure. Statutes, filing windows, agency forms, deadlines and the dollar mechanics in the walkthrough section are checked against primary sources: state codes, federal agencies, and the published rules of whichever regulator the episode involves. Where a rule varies by state, the episode says so.

Not advice

Nothing on this channel is financial, legal, tax or insurance advice, and no viewer relationship is created by watching. The narrator describes what one invented person did in one invented situation. Your situation has different facts and quite possibly a different answer. For a decision that matters, talk to someone licensed in your state.

Corrections

If something in a walkthrough is wrong, we want to know and we will correct it. Write to hello@signeddated.com with the episode and the point in question. Substantive corrections are pinned in the comments of the episode concerned.
